Construction of 30 MW Moragolla hydropower project to begin in 2014

The construction of the Moragolla hydropower project is likely to commence in 2014. The power plant will have a capacity of 30 MW. The total cost of the project is estimated at approximately USD 90 million. The loan for the project is expected to be provided by the Asian Development Bank.

For the construction of the plant, a feasibility study has already been completed. Detailed design of the plant will be made immediately. Another 49MW Broadlands hydropower project is expected to begin soon with financial assistance of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the People's Bank. The entire project is estimated to cost more than USD 82 million. China Bank is expected to cover the 85% of the cost. People's Bank will provide the rest of the amount. The project will begin after securing the approval from the Attorney General.
